Astronomy is probably the oldest of all the sciences. Today, it is about the only science also practiced by amateurs. This site lists biographies and autobiographies of well known astronomers, and some not as well known. The links are suitable for kids to read and use for enjoyment or for schoolwork.

An astronomer, mathematician and geographer who lived in Alexandria, Egypt. We know very little more of his life. He classified the Greek geocentric view of the universe, and calculated the apparent motions of the planets.
